Summary: | An age-old tradition of small-scale boat building has existed on the shores of the Mizen Peninsula. In recent times the advent of GRP has transformed much hull construction into a small industrial activity, leaving to individuals the work of completion, repairs etc. The Krugels, a family from Germany, settled in Rossbrin some years ago and, starting with punt repairs and an empty field, have built a flourishing business substantially though not wholly related to yachting, covering construction in both timber and GRP, completion, repairs and an expanding provision of winter storage. Thus an old tradition takes on a modern form. |
