Summary:St. Brendan's R.C. church with the waterfall and bridge in the foreground manes a lovely picture. The waterfall, now floodlit at night further enhances the view. The church, which was opened in 1826 replaces an old thatched chapel that stood to the rear of the present church. The new church was built by Bernard Mullins, who also designed it. It has many stained glass windows, depecting the resurrection of Christ, by Michael Dunne, was dedicated in 1964 to the memory of the Leinster Regiment which was stationed at Crinkle, Birr in earlier times. The bridge in the picture is called Oxmantown Bridge and is said to be a copy of Anio River Bridge in Italy. It was built in 1817 and had its arches lowered in 1855. The bridge was erected when a new road was opened to Crinkle Barracks.
