Summary: | Foster's Corn Law of 1784 caused an enormous increase in the growing of grain in Ireland. This led to the building of many Mills, by 1840 the Ordenence Survey maps show four corn mills near Greystones , including the one photographed at Killincarrig. The earliest printed reference to it is in 1837 Lewis's Topographical , where it is stated that Killincarrig House was the seat of Arthur Jones Esq. who " has an extensive Mill here". Later the Mill was known as Courtney's Mill untill it passed into the Buinaly Estate, before being taken over by Wicklow County Council. Recently it has passed into private ownership. |
