Summary: | Cottage Restoration: Three dwellings and a shop, formerly a post office, in what are known as Rosetta Cottages on the Ormeau Road, just above the junction with the Ravenhill Road, are undergoing extensive restoration.Once known as Saddlers' Row, the cottages date from early nineteenth century and are the oldest surviving buildings in this area of South Belfast (Ballynafeigh). Farmers bringing their produce to Belfast market could leave in items of harness to be repaired and collect them on their way home in the evening. A toll gate operated close to where the cottages stand. |
