Summary:Christmas card featuring a woodcut designed by Elizabeth Rivers of an aerial view of the surrounding countryside - electricity cables are depicted in the left foreground while in the right foreground a man [a postman, with a bag on his back?] is walking down a lane towards a house surrounded by fields, with cattle grazing opposite the house. A small village with a church steeple and several other houses are viewable in the left background with mountains in the right background. The message printed inside this card reads [printed in both English and Cló Gaelach] "The Minister for Posts and Telegraphs of Ireland and his Officers send greetings for Christmas and good wishes for the New Year. Dublin. December, 1951". With manuscript annotation at bottom right within card, dated 10/12 [10 December 1951] with the words "Kind regards. Was listening with great interest to you "F.T" [?] last night. The person then serving as Minister for Posts and Telegraphs was Fianna Fáil politician Erskine Hamilton Childers, (1905-1974); he served as Minister for Posts and Telegraphs from 13 June 1951 to 2 June 1954 and then subsequently several years later, from 10 November 1966 to 2 July 1969.
