Summary:Calendar for 1918 published by Máire Nic Shiubhlaigh, Gaelic Press, Dublin with months and days in Irish, printed in Cló Gaelacht. At the top is the image of a group of men wearing the Irish Volunteers uniform; a solitary figure standing in the centre with a flag that has '1916' on it; they are led by a figure in Irish Volunteer uniform on a black horse, who is drawing his sword. Within this image [on the far right] is printed "G 1917". Underneath is a verse from the poem/song 'An Dord Féinne' ['the Chant of the Fianna', a reference based on early Irish literature]. Padraic Pearse explained the background to this poem in an introduction [in Irish] published in The Irish Volunteer 27.2.1915. Transcript of text as it appears on calendar: "A bhuidhe le Dia na bfeart go bhfeiceam, / Muna mbímíd beo 'na dhiaidh ach seachtmhain, / Gráinne Mhaol is míle gaisgidheach / Ag fógaint fáin ar Ghallaibh! Pádraic Mac Piarais". ["It is thanks to almighty God that we may see, / Even if we should only be alive a week after it, Gráinne Mhaol [Ireland] and a thousand warriors / Declaring dispersal on the foreigners!"]. (Following a discussion in Galway with Casement and MacNeill in 1914, Pearse decided to alter the words of the traditional song 'Óró, 'sé do bheatha abhaile' to make it suitable as a marching song in Irish for the Volunteers). Under this, the year "1918" is printed within a sunburst, the Gal Gréine [which featured on banners and flags of the Volunteers and was associated with the Fenian movement and the IRB]. Underneath the calendar months, lower left is [in green font, in Cló Gaelacht and somewhat faded]: "Maire Nic Siubhaigh do cuir amach" and opposite lower right, "Gaelic Press, Áth Cliath".
