Summary: | Letters to Sadbh Trínseach from Kevin R. O'Shiel relating to her design of a crest for the Irish Nation League (1916). He mentions his preference in using a rising sun motif as a it was ‘the symbol of the ancient Fianna’. Shiel's letters are written on the League's headed paper and cover the period 6 December 1916 to 23 January 1917. Attached are notes and ephemeral items compiled by Trínseach. Included is a manuscript glossary of art terms translated into Irish (3 pages), printed illustrations (notably a black and white reproduction of a drawing of Red Hugh O'Donnell), offprints reprinted from the 'Irish Industrial Journal' concerning the Hibernian Insurance Company (1914) and a copy of F.J. O'Connor's pamphlet 'Ireland's Opportunity' [1916]. |
