Summary: | Handbill issued by the Director of Recruiting of the Irish Volunteers, calling for the organisation of supporters of the Irish Volunteers into new companies, the formation of cyclist squads - "The value of cyclist soldiers for scouting and outpost duty is very great. In Ireland cyclists can to a large extent replace cavalry" and encouraging people to have the local newsagent to stock the "Irish Volunteer" paper that "...contains lucid and detailed instructions in military matters" and to form a local "Gun Fund". At bottom of handbill, people are encouraged to "Write to Director of Recruiting, Irish Volunteer Headquarters, 2 Dawson Street, Dublin". |
