Summary:Lithographic advertising print for Dublin confectionery company Williams & Woods Ltd., "Dublin Made Jams and Superfine Confectionery" featuring the fictional character of Captain Cuttle from "Dombey & Son" by Charles Dickens; he wears a blue suit [jacket and trousers] with a sunflower in his lapel and a bright yellow handkerchief in his pocket. His collar of his shirt is turned up and tied with a broan cravat; he wears a small black sailors' hat and has a small stick tucked under his arm; his right hand has a hook. "Dombey and Son" was published in as a serial (in monthly parts from 1 October 1846 to 1 April 1848 and in one volume in 1848); its' full title was "Dealings with the Firm of Dombey and Son: Wholesale, Retail and for Exportation".
