Mr McMahon states that "Mr Jim Kirwan .. gave me most valuable assistance in procuring arms for the I.R.A. during the years 1920/21 ... During this period he was attached to G.H.Q. Intelligence Staff ...I have pleasure in recommending Mr Kirwan to your board, and trust he will receive the consideration ... he ...deserves."
