Contributors: Russell of Killowen, Charles Russell, Baron, 1832-1900
Summary:Writes confirming his conclusion "that as the Judges held that they were precluded by terms of the references from investigating the origin of the charges & allegations, the means that were used in their fabrication, or the persons engaged in promoting the conspiracy against us, that the enquiry had become one-sided & that I did not desire to be further represented then ... I desire also further to intimate that at a largely attended meeting of the Parliamentary Party held today, it was also decided that the other members concerned should follow my example & withdraw their instructions to their counsel. Permit me to thank you & Mr. Asquith most warmly & gratefully for the devotion you have shown during the long & wearisome period to my interests & the case generally. I shall always remember with affection and admiration your splendid vindication of our motions and actions & of the movement with which we were identified during a most trying period of Irish history."
