Summary: | Depicts İsmet İnönü, the chief negotiator for Turkey, leaving Lausanne with a case labelled "The Goods". John Bull and others are watching him as he goes. The cartoon refers to The Treaty of Lausanne which was a peace treaty signed in Lausanne, Switzerland on 24 July 1923. It ended the state of war that had existed since 1914 between Turkey on the one hand, and the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Romania and the Serb-Croatian-Slovene State on the other. |
