Summary: | Depicts a woman chained to a large stone that reads "dissension". Her hands are fastened behind her back and her mouth is gagged but her stance appears to be one of defiance. She is a representation of Ireland. A man holding a gun is casually casting his gaze upon her. An insert depicts the Shemus cartoon entitled "Hope" that was published on the 15th of April of that year. In it the female representation of Ireland is standing outside of a closed door. A sign reading "Conference today" is posted on the door. |
