Notes: | Shemus was a pseudonym used by Ernest Forbes. Date appears in pencil on reverse. Caption reads: Ireland: "And have you brought back all the honour and riches that you promised me when you sailed away?" The Mariners: "Perilous seas we have sailed and many storms have we encountered. From the deep monsters arose, and from over the horizon came the great galleons of the enemy." Ireland: "But, good seamen, tell me, have you suffered defeat?" The Mariners: "'Tis for you to judge, Oh mistress. All you desired is here.
