Summary:Date and unpublished title written in pencil on recto and verso. Illustration depicts David Lloyd George welcoming Hamar Greenwood to his country residence Chequers. In the background the Marquess of Reading, Rufus Isaacs, the Viceroy of India (from 1921-1925) and an Indian gentleman are depicted observing the scene, casually smoking cigars. Caption reads: L.G.: "Welcome to Checquers [sic], Hamar." Rufus wants some tips how to manage those Indians, and you're just the man to tell him." Lord Reading: "H - - m." Unpublished title: The wasters are filling in the blank-chequers. A newspaper clipping glued under the image states: "The Prime Minister's week-end party at Chequers, near Aylesbury, Bucks., which he formally took over as the official country residence of British Premiers, included Lord Reading, Lord Lee, Lord Milner, Lord Riddell, Sir Hamar Greenwood, and Mr. J.W. Davis, the American Ambassador".
