Summary: | The road at Foxrock forms part of the N11 National Route (Dublin-Wexford), and part of the European Highway E.01 Larne -Rosslare, then Cherbourg, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Seville. This section was constructed in 1984-1985. A bottle-neck exists at the top of the photograph, caused by the Portugese Ambassador's refusal to allow a tennis court on the Embassy grounds to be acquired for road-widening (despite the Lisbon Connection!). The road shown here will be by-passed by the South-Eastern Motorway ; these plans led to a delay in getting EU funds, as 'Local Distributor' roadways are ineligible, but the Motorway will not exist until at least 2001. |
