Summary: | On Cape Clear Island members of the Mizen Archaeological & Historical Society form a circle to detemine the size of a possible Stone Circle where only two stones stand and a third is lying flat.Traditionally known as the "Marriage Stones",the society took solar orientations and found some interesting results which correspond to the newly discovered Neolithic Passage Tomb on the island. The society was founded in 1979 to increase knowledge of local archaeological sites in the area, promote interest in and protect monuments under threat. Monthly outings are made to investigate known sites or evaluate newly disccovered sites. |
