Summary: | The Church was built in 1789 on land given by Peter La Touche of Bellevue , who also contributed to the cost of building. It was not consecrated untill 1791 , when the ceremony was performed by Robert Fowler Archbishop of Dublin. The delay in consecration was due to the fact that Peter La Touche had not applied to the Archbishop for permission to transfer the Church from the Old Church in the graveyard which was too small and in poor repair. The baptismal Font, given by the Brabazons of Kilinddery was transferred from the old church. The Church unusually faces north , because the La Touche monument was placed in the east window. |
