Summary:Robert Weaver, at one time a school dentist, started mushroom growing about forty years ago in a disused railway tunnel in County Armagh. Since then it has developed in farms scattered over the county. We now have a compost factory situated a few miles North of Armagh: compost is the material in which mushrooms are grown. It is manufactured from straw and chicken manure and packed in, polythene bags which also contain the mushroom spawn. McGearys deliver their compost all over Ireland.
