Summary:The largest vessels on Lough Neagh are the sand barges which sail from 5 or 6 locations around the northern, eastern and southern shores. They remove sand from the bed of the Lough, usually a few kilometres from the western shore. The sand is cleaned and graded for use in the construction industry at shore based sand washing plants.
