Summary:Strabane Convent built 1867-1868 for the Sisters of Mercy under the direction of Mother Mary Atkinson from Navan has stood majestically on the Mount of St Joseph. The nuns have provided primary and post primary education for the people of Strabane for 130 years. Sadly the number of vocations has dropped dramatically in recent years; only a handful remain. The new principal of the Girls Convent Grammar is 'Sister' Vincent - Mr Vincent Power - the first layman to be appointed to this post - a sign of the times.
