Summary:The Abbey Theatre on their first tour of the United States performed 'Riders to the Sea' and 'The Playboy of the Western World', [both written by John Millington Synge] in The Maxine Elliott Theatre in 1911. This was a Broadway theatre named after the theatre manager and actress Maxine Elliott who owned a 50% interest in the theatre, which was located at 109 West 39th Street in New York City. Built in 1908, it was demolished in 1960.
