| Summary: | Duggan's undated letter is written on headed paper of the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis. He writes of his arrival in Clare, campaigning for the Sinn Féin candidate Eamon de Valera, the local Sinn Féin organisation ('The enthusiasm on our side is terrific and the result is a forgone conclusion'), and the campaign efforts of their Nationalist opponent Patrick Lynch. |

| Notes: | Duggan joined the Irish Volunteers on their foundation and fought at the North Dublin Union and later Fr. Mathew Hall during the Easter Rising. He was subsequently imprisoned in Mountjoy, Portland and Lewes prisons, was among those released in the summer of 1917 and successfully stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for South Meath in 1918.
