Notes:The role of the Policy Committee is to approve policy documents submitted by Parliamentary Spokespersons, Party membership sections and other units of the organisation. These functions were subsequently absorbed into the role of the General Council between 1993 - 2003. In 2003 the body was recreated and named the Policy Council with a membership drawn from the Parliamentary Labour Party and the National Executive Committee. On the replacement of the National Executive Committee with the Executive Board the same membership arrangement continued.
