The Dopping-Hepenstal family of Derrycassan House, Co. Longford, were the decendants of two settler families who arrived in Ireland from England in the 17th century. The family became Dopping-Hepenstal after the 1859 marriage of Ralph Anthony Dopping and Diana Dalrympal Hepenstal. The Dopping family's estate was in the townland of Derrycassan while the larger Hepenstal estate had lands in Wicklow and Dublin.
