Notes: | The Gaiety Theatre, Manchester was as the first regional repertory theatre in England. Built on the site of what was the Comedy Theatre (established in 1884), it was purchased on 9 November 1908 by Annie Horniman for £25,000 and reconstructed to plans by Frank Matcham, reopening as The Gaiety Theatre in 1912.
