[John] Hagan, Irish College, Rome, to Ó Ceallaigh and [Kit] discussing the General Election, the continued internment of Republicans and their hunger strike, Mary MacSwiney’s case against the Bishop of Cork, Ó Ceallaigh’s release and the Bobbio Affair. Also draft of letter written by Ó Ceallaigh on 18 Sept. informing an unnamed person that he has been elected to Dáil Éireann in the constituency of Dublin North and demanding his immediate release in order ‘to attend to the duties of the office to which I have been elected’. He also writes ‘I write this letter in English because of the urgency of the matter. Experience having proved to me that letters written in Irish are invariably subject to prolonged delays’.
