Description:The papers comprise annotated handwritten and typescript draft copies of ‘Figure in the Cave and Other Essays’ by John Montague and edited by Antoinette Quinn, (1989). There are a number of drafts concerning the essay “The Unpartitioned Intellect” in particular. The drafts are also accompanied by some reference materials: a copy of ‘Irish Writers and Society at Large’ (1985); and a photocopy of Thomas Kinsella’s “Nightwalker. The file further includes: typescript correspondence from the Lilliput Press in relation to “Unpartitioned Intellect”, (1988); and a typescript letter from Timothy McCarthy to Montague providing editorial suggestions and enclosing a draft copy of ‘Figure in the Cave’ (1989). Lastly, there is a typescript copy of an interview (interviewer not named) with John Montague promoting the publication (c.1991).
