Description:Typescript drafts of ‘The Lost Notebook’ many of which carry alternate titles: ‘Holy Year’; ‘Love’s Notebook’; and ‘Pilgrim’s Pad’. Each of the drafts contains handwritten annotations by John Montague. The file also contains correspondence surrounding the publication. There are letters from the publishers Mercier Press Ltd and White Pine Press in relation to literary contracts and editorial suggestions, (1986-1987). There are also letters from Bloomsbury and the Dolmen Press discussing the novella, (1986-1987). A draft letter from Montague to Barry Callaghan is enclosed regarding feedback he had been given about ‘The Lost Notebook’ and information about the illustrator for the book, John Verling, (1986). Lastly, there are various reviews for ‘The Lost Notebook’ which have been collected by Montague, (1987-1988).
