Description:The file mainly comprises correspondence from Valentin Iremonger to John Montague written from his office in Irish embassies based in: London, 1961; Stockholm; and New Delhi, 1971. The letters primarily relate to Iremonger’s poetry, many of which are enclosed such as, “The Eve of Destruction” 1966, “On Some Boiler” 1970 and “The Master Plan”, 1971. There are also draft responses from Montague regarding the poetry. The file also includes a copy of Iremonger’s ‘Horan’s Field and Other Reservations’, 1972. Lastly, there is also an invitation from Claddagh Records to meet Iremonger for the launch of his record “By Sandymount Strand”, October 1980. The jacket from the vinyl record is attached.
