Contains a letter from Wolfe's to his son John (dated 16 Jan. 1800) in which he writes primarily on the political build up to the Act of Union and his own opposition to it. He refes to the debate on Parson's Amendment and Grattan's speech in the Irish parliament, Catholic opposition to the Act and the government having 'thought better' of dispersing a meeting of Catholics. Of his own actions (he voted against the Union) he writes 'I have done my duty & acted as I felt & as I ought'.
