McCartan states that if there "are any executions or deportations to St. Helena I shall resign from the Dail as a protest" and that "Dick, who was our only hope seems to be losing his head". The letter also discusses how McCartan, through Diarmid Coffey, is helping Mr. Thomas get his medical degree.
