Letter from Sir Harry Hamilton Johnston to Roger Casement about the proposed meeting and obtaining "men of mark" to speak at it, and E. D. Morel's work on the Congo,
1905 May 11.
Johnston states: "He [Morel] has certainly frightened the Congo Free State into reforming a good deal of its methods. It is rather awkward just at this juncture that these revelations should have been made as to the maltreatment of the aborigines of Australia by the British colonists. No doubt this will be made the most of by the friends of the Congo monopolists".
