Letter to Thomas Goodwin Keohler from Arthur Griffith concerning "The Playboy of the Western World",

1907 January 31.

He believes Synge is entitled to have any defence of his play and he considers the play, produced by a national theatre society, as the worst libel yet perpetrated on the national character and found it genuinely repulsive. Writes that he would have inserted an article if it had been delivered on time whilst expressing his disagreement with it and that, in the interest of fair play, he is ready to publish anything on the other side.
