Duggan's undated letter, written on headed paper of Stoker's Hotel, Longford, refers to his having addressed a large republican demonstration in Longford town, the success of his speech, the size of the crowds and Laurance Ginnell, Maurice Moore and Count Plunkett also attending at the same event. It may have been written during the campaign leading up to the General Election of 1918.

Notes:Duggan joined the Irish Volunteers on their foundation and fought at the North Dublin Union and later Fr. Mathew Hall during the Easter Rising. He was subsequently imprisoned in Mountjoy, Portland and Lewes prisons, was among those released in the summer of 1917 and successfully stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for South Meath in 1918.
