Tobin describes the opposition from the Catholic Church as "the clerical onslaught here and they have not spared anything to crush us by getting several of our members sacked and for their re-employment in Cork is barred.". Tobin fears for the existence of the Cork branch and notes that they intend to run a candidate for the Municipal Council. Cornelius Lehane departed for England, and William J. Gallagher and William D. Horgan returned to full time study.
