Lehane describes [William J.] Gallagher as a "trump" and the "best Socialist in Cork". He notes "there has been much fluttering int he dove cots of trade unionism here lately, and Socialism is getting many free ads. My attitude in the [Dublin] Trades Council has been too uncompromising to suit the book of the fakirs [fakers] in office, so they determined to shift me..."
