Mrs. Brugha requests that "apart from family relations and intimate friends, the chief mourners and the Guard of Honour should include only the women of the Republican movement. She makes this request as a protest against the "immediate and terrible" Civil War", and she also requests that no representatives of the Free State or its officials attend the funeral.
