Notes: | Typescript. Letter addressed to: "Philadelphia. Pa" and addressed from: "Scranton, Penna-[Pennsylvania]". Identity of "the Chief" is uncertain. The "Chief" was a nickname for Éamon de Valera but Joseph McGarrity had become disillusioned with him by 1939 and it would be strange for John F. Buckley to refer to him as a "mutual good friend".
