O'Brien writes "I have found myself out of sympathy all along with the manner in which the Society is run, and it is hopeless to expect any improvement. Without a very drastic change I am convinced nothing can avert disaster, and as I feel that I am powerless to alter that state of affairs I have decided that the only honest course for me to pursue is to retire from the Committee".
