Annotated typescript drafts of Robert Brennan's memoirs of Éamonn De Valera, in which he recalls their first meeting while both men were in prison following their participation in the 1916 Rising, De Valera's contesting the Clare East by-election, his opposition to conscription, tour of America, negotiations with Lloyd George, opposition to the Treaty, eventual entry into the Dail, electoral success in 1932, dismissal of Eoin O'Duffy, foreign policy agenda, contributions to the League of Nations, changes to the Free State Constitution and neutrality during World War II. Brennan's memoir is written in eighteen separate instalments, titled 'De Valera One' to 'De Valera Eighteen'.
