Annie O'Farrelly Papers,
1915-1980.
Papers largely relating to Annie O'Farrelly's involvement with the Irish Republican Army and Cumann na mBan, dating predominantly from the 1920s to the 1950s. The collection contains a large amount of O'Farrelly's correspondence and correspondents include Sighle Humphreys, Richard Mulcahy, Frank Ryan and Peadar O'Donnell. Also included are letters sent by O'Farrelly to her family while a prisoner during the Irish Civil War, 1922-1923, as well as her prison diary. The collection includes photographs pertaining to the Republican movement and commemorations in the 1930s alongside letters concerning Republican newspaper, 'An Phoblacht' and a large amount of I.R.A. communiqués and Cumann na mBan documents. There is a substantial amount of material, including biographical accounts and newspaper cuttings, concerning I.R.A. Chief of Staff, Seán Russell. Also included are minutes of meetings for the Irish language group, An Grágaire, of which O'Farrelly was a member.
