Ceannt describes the weather, attendance at a dance saying "I asked the girl with whom I had first danced to d so again but she declined, saying her partner would be along in a moment and she was waiting for him. This (no doubt mythical) partner did not materialise..." and his plans fo the rest of his holiday with "Paddy" including a squashed "notion of tandeming over to Gorey".
