Description:James O'Mara travelled to the United States with Éamon De Valera and was a trustee of the American Association for the Recognition of the Irish Republic, for which he successfully acted as a fundraiser. When De Valera proposed to ask for both a loan from the members of AARIR and impose a levy upon them, O'Mara resigned in protest and claimed De Valera's actions would reduce the donations given in the United States for the Irish cause.
