Description: | Contains copy letters from Haberer and typescript and autograph letters and postcards from Heaney concerning Heaney's attendance at a conference of the Société des Anglicistes de L'Enseignement Supérieur held in Rennes in May 1998. With attached envelopes. Correspondence dated 24 April 1997-17 May 1998. Heaney, in a letter, written while waiting to board a plane at Stanstead Airport, London, on 27 October 1997, also refers to a recent visit to the home of his friend Bernard O'Donoghue ('Ulster-in-Munster, Mossbawn-sur-Millstreet'), his ongoing work translating 'Beowulf' ('am finding it heaving going') and his participation in a human rights programme for the BBC. Also included is a faxed copy of the typescript poem 'The King's Horses' by John Hewitt, sent to Haberer by Heaney and a letter from Heaney's personal assistant Susan Tyrrell sent to Haberer, acknowledging receipt of his book 'La lyre du larynx'. |
