Contains letters to Hamilton from Charles FitzGerald, 4th Duke of Leinster, congratulating him on his engagement (16 July 1874) and condoling with him on his father's death (17 Feb. 1880), from Gerald FitzGerald, 5th Duke of Leinster (25 Feb. 1887) written following his own father's death, and from his wife Hermione, Duchess of Leinster, in which she thanks him for assisting her in settling into 'my future life at Carton'.

Notes: | Charles Robert Hamilton, J.P. of counties Meath and Dublin, was the eldest son of Charles William Hamilton of Hamwood House, near Dunboyne, Co. Meath, and Letitia Charlotte (née Armstrong). He was married to Louisa Brooke of Dublin, with whom he had ten children, among them the artists Eva and Letitia Hamilton.
