Mark Grantham Papers,

1955-1993.

The collection consists primarily of scripts of 'The Kennedys of Castleross', a popular Irish radio serial drama, broadcast on Radio Éireann from 1955, which Grantham scripted for many years. Also included in the collection are scripts for other Radio Éireann shows which Grantham scripted, notably 'Milo and Maureen', 'What Are They Talking About?' and 'The Road Around Ireland', letters to Grantham from friends, associates, radio listeners and staff at both Arks Advertising and Radio Éireann, press cuttings and Grantham's 1993 typescript memoir of 'The Kennedys of Castleross'.

Notes:Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1931, Mark Grantham moved to Dublin to study at Trinity College Dublin in 1951. While in Dublin he began writing scripts for Radio Éireann and subsequently, following a move to London, for Independent Television and various international film companies. He later worked as journalist, as sub-editor of 'The Times' London (1967) and as foreign correspondent of 'United Press International' (1968-1972). He subsequently worked for Amnesty International, as Head of Information in the AI International Secretariat.
