Included are photographs of a boat trip on the Nile and the Aswan Dam in Egypt, amphitheatres in Syracuse, Sicily, street scenes in Naples, Lake Maggiore and Ludlow Castle, Shropshire; also included are uncaptioned photographs of colonials and local people in Africa, possibly South Africa.

Engineer, economist and astronomer, Edgeworth (1880-1972) was born in Daramona House, Street, Co. Westmeath. He served in the Royal Engineers and Royal Signals, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1926, after which he worked for the British Department of Posts and Telegraphs in Sudan. During his later years, spent in Cherbury, Booterstown, Co. Dublin, he published work on astronomy and economics.
