Features photographs of West Kerry and the Blasket Islands, including views of the coastline and beaches, cottages, farms, harvesting crops with horse drawn machinery, fishing, currach racing from Dunquin to the Blaskets and a portrait of Peig Sayers, seated by her fireplace. Also included are views of Dublin, notably the barges and sail boats on the River Liffey, the Custom House, H'Penny Bridge, Nelson's Pillar and O'Connell Street and Henry Street, taken from the top of Nelson's Pillar.

Born in Dublin to parents from Cork and Kerry, O'Muircheartaigh worked as a civil servant in the Department of Education. He was active in Conradh na Gaelige, serving as its President 1955-59. His chief interest and spare time occupation was photograhing life in the west of Ireland, the people, customs and landscapes. Many of his photographs appeared on the front cover of the Gaelic League monthly 'Feasta'.
